Anambra State-owned, Southeast Nigeria-based Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University is set to host two European Ambassadors to lead conversations on climate action and shared prosperity. The events expected to feature the European Union’s Ambassador to Nigeria and the Polish Ambassador to Nigeria, both of whom would lead this conversation, are expected to spotlight the university as a globally-minded institution of learning.

With the events counting in days, plans are now in an advanced stage for the 16th convocation and 4th Memorial Lecture of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam, Anambra State. The schedule of activity reveals a series of events lined up for four days commencing from April 22nd, 2026, with the 4th Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Memorial Lecture. The theme of the 4th Ojukwu Memorial Lecture is “Sustainable and Climate Resilience Future: Beyond Rhetoric.” The guest memorial lecturer is the European Union Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency, Mr. Gautier Mignot. Importantly, the focus on climate change for this year’s Founder’s Memorial Lecture finds expression in the Vice Chancellor, Professor Kate Omenugha’s agenda on environmental action to attain environmental sustainability for the university and surrounding communities.

According to the University’s schedule, the second day, April 23rd, 2026, is slated as Students’ Day with the Vice Chancellor. This will also feature an interdenominational Service.

However, for the third day, Friday, April 24, 2026, the university will hold a convocation lecture, and the theme of the lecture is “Building Innovative Minds and Bridges for Shared Prosperity,” and the guest lecturer is the Polish Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency, Mr. Michal Cygan.

On the final day, Saturday, April 25, 2026, there will be a convocation ceremony for undergraduate and postgraduate graduands of the university, at the convocation arena of the Igbariam campus of the university.
